Special day

In our church, we believe in receiving personal revelation. You have the right to talk and receive your own answers from God. We also have a special blessing that one can receive that is very special and personal. It is given by a Patriarch of the church and is considered very sacred and very personalized for the person getting it. Today was Maliea's special day to receive her patriarcal blessing. Without knowing anything about her, the Patriarch was open to enlightenment, telling about her love for animals and children and incredible blessings for her. It was so very wonderful for her and us her parents. Maliea was just glowing and it helped her feel special about her life and her future.

Lucky Ladies

While shopping for wedding supplies at Home Depot (yes, you read that correctly) I spied a package of live ladybugs. Swarming around inside their little mesh bag in the hot sun, they cried for me to buy them and set them free! So the line was long and we grabbed a bag. Then in my loud excited voice started telling Lydia all about them. Well three more people just had to grab a bag of ladybugs too. So we saved several hundred ladybugs from dying an untimely death at the checkout stand at Home Depot. After we watered the grass ,as the sun was starting to set; we set our ladies free. Now Thayne loved it! Lydia wouldn't touch them for anything, she thought they were great while in the bag but when they started to crawl over her hands it was a different story. The older kids even really got into setting them free in the backyard. We are going to hunt for them tomorrow and see how many we can find still around.

Friday school group day

It was really nice to be able to go and re-connect with some of my homeschooling mom friends at the park today. There haven't been very many wind/chill free Fridays the last several month but todays weather was perfect! Thayne is getting big enough to crawl through the tubes and slide down the slides by himself. Of course he is dragging that blanket around with him everywhere. It was really a great morning.

Fun returns

I have an amazing accountant! It helps that we went to high school together and she is willing to go the extra mile to help. I was stressed thinking that we were going to need to pay some serious tax dollars this year. Lo and Behold! Laura was able to get us a return!!!! Not a big one and we did have to pay state taxes a little. Michael promptly bought an IPod video with 30G so he can play. I took the rest of the money and we went to the Zoo. I got a family membership so we can have fun all year long. It is just a little zoo and not very many animals but it has an awesome play area for the little ones. Their website has extra ideas on making it schoolish with activities like making owl masks and other craft stuff. We all had a great time, the bear Shash even came right up to us at the fence. The sleeping badger reminded us of Redwall stories and we even talked about writing a story with the animal that are there. It was the perfect day!
